We Moved!

Our last post was in April with our March 2019 spend. Since that time Mr. HutchLife resigned from his previous job and now has a new one, he graduated with his MBA and we’ve moved to Atlanta. It’s taken us time to settle in to our new home but we’re excited about everything that’s been happening and will happen.

So many things have happened that we have to share in upcoming posts. Let’s start with what led to the move. If you are new to our site here’s a bit about us: Who We Are

While Mr. HutchLife was in school we discussed him attending the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) in Detroit last year because it was close to where we were in Michigan and a great networking opportunity. He planned time off from work to attend and we headed out. I met up with friends who were also going to the conference and had a great time. At the conference Mr. HutchLife met with a number of companies, went to a networking event and made some great contacts. A week later he applied to the opportunities he was interested in. His desire has been to get into a Leadership Development Program that would allow him to broaden his expertise in Finance, would be challenging and would provide the opportunity to relocate to different areas of the country or internationally.

SIDEBAR: Prior to this we were a part of a small group at our church in Michigan and one of the things we did as a group in September 2018 was write down prayer requests and seal in an envelope that we would open up at the end of the year. Unbeknownst to Mr. HutchLife and I we had both written down the same prayer requests LOL!

After applying to the jobs Mr. HutchLife heard back from one of the main companies he was interested in and they wanted to speak with him. He did the first and second interview in October and was asked to come to their headquarters to do a presentation in November. During those few weeks in October he worked on his presentation and put together what I think was a phenomenal presentation. We flew out to the company headquarters, he spent 2 days there meeting other candidates, networking, and getting to know the company. He liked what he saw and it went really well. Of course we thanked God for the opportunity and flew back home. God worked quickly because Mr. HutchLife sent a thank you note after his presentation and the recruiter responded back with we’ll have good news for you in a few days.

Two days later on his birthday we found out that he got the job! What a great way to celebrate! His salary increased more than 100% and he was getting a sizeable sign on bonus. We were just humbled at what God had done so quickly. The offer was for the Finance Leadership Development Program and is a 3 year rotation that can take us to LA, NY, Dallas &  ATL. As you can see we are in ATL for this first rotation and will be moving for the next one.

When God led me to leave my job, blessed us with a baby, and Mr. HutchLife and I agreed I’d be a stay at home mom, we didn’t see any of this coming but God worked it out that we don’t have to worry about me looking for a job every year that we move and Baby HutchLife is young enough that she won’t be losing out on friends and when we finally settle she’ll build lifelong friendships.

That’s how we ended up in Atlanta. Now that we’re here, 4 months in we’re still getting to know the area.

If you’re familiar with ATL and have recommendations on things to do and places to see, let us know in the comments.
